Motorola to Spin Off Phone Unit
After the market closed, Motorola announced that it was willing to break up the various units. The announcement sent the stock up more than 10 percent in afterhours. After more than a year of pressure from unhappy investors, Motorola said it is considering separating the handset unit from its other businesses in an effort to snap a deep slump that has followed its meteoric success with the Razr.
